Electric air taxis offer glimpse of future travel over Tampa Bay — Vero Beach Community news

TAMPA, Fla. (WWSB) - Two electric “air taxis” flew across Tampa Bay, tracing the same path as the world’s first commercial airline flight more than a century ago.The test flights followed the 1914 route that connected St. Petersburg and Tampa. This time, instead of traditional planes, the bay crossing was completed by Advanced Air Mobility aircraft powered by electricity.Airport officials say the demonstration offered a glimpse of how air taxis could be used in the coming years to move passengers and cargo around the region. The aircraft could eventually provide new connections across Tampa Bay.
